A Little More Than a Wedding
Some weddings are special because of the day itself. Others are special because of the people standing at the center of it.
Kinsey and Ashton’s wedding was both.
I’ve known Kinsey for as long as I can remember. We grew up together, and somewhere along the way, their family became one of those families that just feels like your own. So getting to photograph this day was something I’ll hold especially close—not only because I got to document such a beautiful wedding, but because I got to watch someone I love step into a brand new chapter of her life.
And getting to watch Ashton become part of that story made the day even sweeter.
There’s something different about photographing a wedding when you know the people behind the photographs. I wasn’t just watching a bride get ready or a couple exchange vows. I was watching someone I’ve known for years become a wife.
It made all of the little moments feel a little bigger.
The happy tears. The laughter. The hugs that lasted a little longer. The looks between Kinsey and Ashton when they thought no one was watching. The way everyone seemed to gather around them, reminding them that they aren’t walking into this next chapter alone.
And while I’ll always love the photographs from this day, I think what I’ll remember most is what it felt like to be there.
To witness a love that has grown into a marriage. To see two families become one. To celebrate someone I’ve grown up with as she begins one of the biggest adventures of her life.
Kinsey and Ashton, I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to fully put into words how special it was to photograph your wedding. I am so thankful you trusted me with something this important, but even more thankful that I got to be there simply as someone who loves you both.
I hope these photographs always bring you back to this day—the joy, the people, the laughter, the happy tears, and the beginning of your life together as the Higdons.
